A sort-of New Year Resolution

I’m not usually one for New Year resolutions. They’re made with the best of intentions, but more often than not, they’re only a memory by February.

This year, though, I am making a resolution. Two, actually.

  1. I am going to actively, consistently seek representation from a literary agent until it happens.
  2. I am going to connect more actively in the Writing Community.

I’ve gone the indie author, self-publishing route for five years now and it hasn’t done too badly, but I want to go further in my writing career and I need help from someone who knows the ropes.

I want to be a professional writer. I want to write for a living. Not fame and fortune, but a solid career. It’s time to get after that in a real way instead of writing haphazardly because I’m tired from my day job.

It’s time to refocus, to not get discouraged, and to write more, to write every day and engage more with other writers.

To start, I created an author website dedicated to the books I’ve written, rather than just musing from my blog. It just launched today, so there’s not much on there, yet, but it will continue to grow. Here’s the link if you want to check it out: http://www.julieballantynebrownauthor.com

In the meantime, here’s to all of the authors, however you publish or not. May you have a happy, healthy, productive 2022!
