Normalcy will not be a thing.

In a little more than a month, the Senior Year of High School will begin for the last time in our nuclear family. Oldest Child and Middle Child both made it successfully through and now it’s Youngest Child’s turn. He’s so ready for it. To be fair, it’s Middle Child’s Senior Year of College as well, but that experience is a little different and we will definitely celebrate him as well.

Senior year, for many students, is one last hurrah before they head off to college, trade school, or work. Colleges mostly focus on grades and test scores from the junior year, so there is a little more relaxing going on, sometimes leading to the dreaded “senioritis”. There are countless activities to be involved in including Prom, the Senior Party, and Graduation. There will be one last everything: Homecoming, concert, performance, game, final exam. I know that he’s looking forward to finally finishing high school, but also participating in many of the traditional events that normally happen during this last year. There will, however, be some very pointed differences between his brothers’ experiences and his.
